The Process

Before You Start

Educators are required to have a number of qualifications and certifications before they can begin their Family Day Care service. These include:

  • Minimum Certificate III in Childcare
  • A valid suitability card, also known as a blue card
  • A current police check
  • First Aid certifications including CPR, Asthma & Anaphylaxis
  • Public Liability Insurance

Educators must also operate in an area of the home that is safe, secure and compliant with the National Quality Framework.

Training

Our recruitment process provides support through face to face and online training covering the seven Quality Areas of the National Quality Standards.

  1. Educational Program and Practice
  2. Children’s Health and Safety
  3. Physical Environment
  4. Staffing Arrangements
  5. Relationships with Children
  6. Partnerships with Families and Communities
  7. Governance and Leadership

You will also benefit from home visits by qualified and experienced coordinators who will help you create play-based learning programs tailored to each child’s ideas, interests, strengths, and abilities.

Onboarding

Upon receiving your inquiry, the coordination team will arrange an informal meet and greet at either the Coordination Office or your home. During this meeting, the team will explain the registration process and develop a tailored registration plan with you, taking into account your qualifications, history, experience, references, and training needs.

After you complete the training and induction process, you will be ready to open your Family Day Care.

The Coordination unit will be there to support you in establishing your business, settling new children into care, and familiarising you with the Service’s policies and procedures, by having weekly visits as well as having on call support.
